Tacomas look GREAT lowered. Then you can get away with narrower tire too.
Less rolling resistance = Better Mileage.

Being that its a 4 cyc Taco(?), you won't have to worry about 'putting down the power'
What engine DO you have? The 2.4, 2.7, or 3.4?
The V6 responds VERY well to a new exhaust starting from the Y pipe on back. the stock one is HORRIDLY restrictive. The 2.4 / 2.7 aren't known to be performers, but with a decent CIA they can eeek some more power (Mileage, I swear).

Besides my Protoge project car -- My other is a Toyota PU (94.5yr) 2wd, 2.4liter 5speed -- last one before the Tacoma. All I've done to it is Net tailgate and alternator field switch. Welcome and good luck.
PS. Lifetime fuel is 27.2mpg (all 274 tanks of data). Brings out the nerd in me.
