hi from boston!

Hi everyone, I joined today because I have a question about choosing the best route (what's most efficient--slower and shorter, or faster and long?) that I thought you all could answer. I'm going to post it in the general efficiency forum since that seems like the best fit.

Here at chez carolyn2 we mostly concentrate on improving gas mileage by decreasing miles driven (walk/bike/bus instead), but I'm looking over your hypermiling hint page too. Thanks for your help!

Hi Carolyn & welcome to EM,

You will probably have to check the math on the two routes to get the actual total of fuel needed for each? If the shorter route involves a lot of sitting still, then you probably can help by shutting off the engine when you can (by studying the light cycles, etc.).
