Hi From Portland!!!

Hello!

I have been lurking the forums for a few years now, and since I bought a 2009 Toyota Tacoma over a year ago, as well as beginning a job with a 100 mile commute a day, I decided that I needed to make some changes to optimize my fuel economy.

To start, I built an aerocap. I kind of just threw it together as a sloppy proof of concept. Once I started working my new job and commuting, my co-workers started asking me about my "funny looking cap" and one of them donated a Suzuki Savage bumper for a lower air dam. The two of those additions gave me about 4 mpg, and since I do almost entirely highway driving, I was pretty happy with that kind of gain.

Since building the cap, it is starting to fall apart from all of the salt from the winter and about 20xxx miles. I am going to be re-building it this summer, as well as changing some of the design.

Also, I realized that I need more information, so I recently bought a ScanGuage and am awaiting its arrival. I am hoping to see an improvement once I re-program the nerd behind the wheel.

I will be posting pictures of my cap and build soon.

I would like to submit my unhappiness that all images have to be so dang tiny. I might as well get my crayons out after down sizing my pictures from 10 MP to about 100x100 pixels.

Pictures are on the way!

These are from the build and paint phase. When I glass it this summer during the rebuild, I will be sure to post more pictures, or maybe just link you to my blog.
