Thumbs up Hit 40 MPG UK!Hurrah!

Just completed 506.2 miles in the Saab using 12.44 UK gallons

giving me 40.69mpg (UK)

thats 128% of the published extraurban mpg of 31.7..

At this rate it looks like every 4th tank will have saved a full tank of petrol.. so I've cut my petrol bill and consumption by at least 25%.

Currently, a full tank costs circ £65 ($102 US) so not an inconsiderable saving.

this record tank was achieved even though I used the car to Move flat- basically using it like a van..

I've now settled into my car sharing commute and I think the car likes the journey-so I'm hoping for further improvement..

Next goal is 135% of Extra urban!

thats 42.79 mpg UK.

Watch this space!

That'll get you the coveted Hypermiler status in your EM-signature - if you add it

Good work there

All this ecomodding & hypermiling stuff doesn't look that ridiculous anymore once you can come up with this kind of numbers

Belated congrats - I have been away.

Thats impressive for a SAAB. My friend's son got rid of his because it was too thirsty, and it didn't even have a turbo.

it may have been the v6?

I think the mpg is down this trip though..

combination of twisty good driving roads and torrential rain led to

a-me having some fun

b- a distinct drop in coasting distances..

should still be around 39mpg hopefully

It was a bog standard 9-3 2.0 I remember, plastic wheels and furry seats. Slow too - slower than a non-melting Himalayan galcier.

Yeah rain has hurt recently, I did get a nice 65 average going from Helensburgh to Stirling and then to Embra instead of using the M8 to get home last week. Lovely views too. I think this may make a better tank than the last one - 260 miles and under 1/4 used.

On the way there I had to use the M8 - loved the Police closing a lane in Glasgow because of flooding, and pushing the traffic instead through the deepest part...
