Right. I easily have more than 20lbs of junk, tools and additions in the car at any time. The weight is probably close to irrelevant in terms of economy, but I'd love to know just how much drag it induces.

I like using mine to keep snow off of the back window in the winter, personally.

I usually just brush the snow off by hand and it doesn't seem to stick on the window when the car is moving. The weight seems to be more usable for opening and closing the trunk. It is surprising how different and easy it feels compared to before when you open or close it. The only thing that i could see improving the mpg, if at all, is the wiper delete.
