I've had a limited amount of time behind the wheel of a Highlander Hybrid, heading to a sailing adventure 2 summers back:

Gone sailing - tall ships in Nova Scotia, Canada

Data point: fully loaded, 5 adult males, packed to the roof with luggage inside, plus luggage tied ON the roof racks (groan)...

25 mpg (US) @ 100 km/h / 60 mph target speed in rolling hills.

In the city: "not hard to get around 7.5 L/100 km (31 mpg US) in city driving."

I really enjoy driving the Toyota hybrids - very entertaining/engaging.

That sounds about like me when I moved to Boston. I managed 25MPG at 65 with the A/C on.

Now my trips are shorter, but my last tank was mostly used driving around the Cape with my visiting parents. So 29.3. As long as I beat the EPA, I'm happy (though, I wouldn't complain if I could get it back to 30).
