I suggest a subscription to
Home Power magazine. They cover energy (production, usage, efficiency), building (construction methods, proper siting, codes, types of structures), and living (good behaviors, new techniques). The subscription also comes with the ability to download back issues (at least my subscription does).
I can't implement most of what they cover, being that I live in the suburbs with covenants (argh!), but I still like to learn about it.
One of the best things is that their information is well-founded, unlike some of the hairbrained things suggested on Ecomodder!
