Is the management experience enough that if you don't like your companies subject matter, that in itself can give you an out later, before it makes you bitter somehow?

I don't think OP has posted back, but I would take the promotion and get a more fuel efficient beater. Tiny pay raise and would still burn less gas than the cobalt driving to the old workplace.
