Bonnet and cap are particular types of hat, as are almost all of the words in the first couple of pages at that link. They are not synonyms for hat as a generic head covering. And not all head coverings are hats: I don't think hood or turban would qualify as hats.

Chapeau of course is French for hat.

It's chapéu!

(In Portuguese)

At least my beret is still not a hat.

I am not sure how far the first video I watched went, but I closed it when I realized it did not have any idea where it was going. I later found another one where the second time the Marine's cover blew off, the President let the Marine finish his salute, and an aid handed the Marine his cover.

So, you are prohibited from wearing a cover on the flight line unless the President is involved, but then you are required to? How has nobody's cover been sucked into an engine yet?

Oh, there was some sophomore engineering student who was taking his first fluid dynamics class, who came on here several years ago and started a thread wherein he proceeded to lecture us all about how underbody panels should "resemble a golf ball design, or be shaped as if the bottom of your car is an airfoil."

When he received some legitimate pushback, he fled the site, never to return.

Will you please explain smooth closeout panels to us?! Please?!

I do not miss that guy, do you? Are you concerned we will respond similarly?

Some bounce off the forum in a glancing blow, others stick like glue, —Xist—

I recall some, maybe not the same guy. Julian Edgar comes back occasionally. Everyone bring a particular life trajectory to the forum.

Xist — You deserve to be answered. I searched the forum on closeout panels, and the page on panels:

I was looking to help BamZipPow.

First round of placement testing today. 17 years since my last math course, I'm one point away from placing into Calculus 1, where the engineering sequence starts. I'm allowed three more retests, so I expect this will be a breeze as I'm only just starting to review and re-familiarize myself with everything I've forgotten (I went as far as second semester calculus in my first undergraduate program--unusual for a music major).

First semester done, with A's in both chemistry and trigonometry! I'm glad I started with trig instead of going straight to calculus, because there were a bunch of topics we covered in this class that were not taught in my high school trig (De Moivre's Theorem, anyone?).

Hmmm, maybe that's why Oregon State failed to teach me Calculus.
