Our Lincon town car is below EPA for a few reasons.
#1 Its cold here.
#2 I don't drive it 90% of its miles.
#3 It gets driven almost exclusivly in stop and go traffic and it is used as a taxi cab and courier.
#4 Its not ecomodded, its 100% OE, cant even put new oxygen sensors because the old ones are rusted in place.

I'm not in that group, but I'll post anyway.
I've only been able to get .02 MPG under EPA HIGHWAY estimate ONCE with my Mustang since I bought it, and that was over a year before I found ecomodder.com. My morning commute has 21 stop lights over 16.5 miles. I must be doing something wrong.

I'm getting a little over the EPA rating for my Bravada but in the grand scheme of things considering the size of my vehicle my driving habits and so fourth it is still only averages in the high 17s which is just sad. My ultimate planned eco mod is going to be just flat out buying a different car, hopefully sometime early next year. Still in the mean time I am going to keep doing what I can with this one.

I'm at EPA highway estimate average, but most owners of my car (who don't give a **** about fuel economy at all) are doing better. My first 2 tanks were below EPA 24mpg.

My driving is split between 30-40 mile trips (in heavy traffic, thanks a lot Bay Area) and <1 mile trips with so many stops I couldn't keep track even if I wanted to, so I suppose I'm doing okay compared to the EPA city estimate of 21mpg...which is impossible to get unless you never shift out of 2nd gear. When I logged my extremely short trips I noticed that the average was about 22mpg thanks to cold engine and high idle, but on longer trips I get about 30-35 depending on how the traffic is. Getting 40 is not hard if I stick to 45mph and under roads, but usually that's not where I'm driving.

My postcat O2 sensor is dead, and the fuel trim sensors are on their way out, which doesn't help.

What ever you do dont waste any money on a new post converter O2 sensor.
If you can move one of the near death pre-converter sensor to the post converter position or if your post converter sensor is different snag one from a junk yard.

Other than tires and presure, I have one mod between 5 cars, 1/5 of a mod/car. A think I might be the worst modder.

some people just don't have a "MPG friendly" route...when i used to live 2.5 miles from work i was getting terrible mileage because the engine was always cold and i had 8 stop's withing those 2.5 miles...now i get much better MPG but waste almost twice the fuel because it's a longer drive.

I was in the same boat. I spent from 2002 to 2011 living with in 2 miles of work.
In the winter my drive was so short I had to charge the batteries on the suburban with a battery charger because they would go dead after a couple weeks from not fully charging in the cold due to the very short drive to and from work.

Over 9 years I figure I saved up to 2000 hours of drive time cut fuel use by around 70%.
