You're right. Sort of a Midnight Blue. I was looking for 911 style headlights.

The "Turbo S" was introduced as an option for the 1988 model year, and then in 1989 the "S" was dropped but all of the 944 Turbos were the same spec as the "S" had been. I think the Turbo may have stopped being imported after that? I forget...

There was also a regular 944S, introduced somewhat earlier. And a 944S2, which I believe was the 16-valve model.

That was the only picture I'd seen; but I got to wondering about that thing that looks like a grille flipped up on the front so I went looking.
This Is a Fire Truck - Neatorama

I suspect there is an engine-driven water pump under there. There is a hose bib right above the license plate.
