The contrast in the speed vehicles shape and their support/push/tow vehicles is very curious indeed.

That's actually very Template-y. There was some discussion recently about how Bombshell Betty's open side and rear windows relieve the bubble behind the notchback roof. It could probably use a windshield though.
...and a front air dam.

Look what Jason Torchinsky on Jalopnik found:

And the Polo-sized Tatra:

Thread bump.

It's no longer an economy car, but it's pretty low frontal area for a Hemi-powered car.

^^ That's wild.
I wonder though, the engine takes up a lot of space. Does it even have a seat, or a steering wheel? It should, but how?

EDIT I bet the rod on the right side of the engine connects to the steering parts.

Messers were tandem two seaters. The engine block occupies the stretch (and is wider than the body). The transmission would intrude into the front seat, but the driver position could be moved to the rear, a popular move with drag racers.

Drag link on the right, possibly a imported front axle? Or an export Hemi. It looks like it was in the Midwest in the 50s.
