Wow, I had no idea. Great job. It would be fun to get into the HPV game. How bad is it to ride?

Riding it with the top off is pretty easy. Just use a gloved hand on the ground to start. It has high gearing and 6 speeds so low gear is fairly stiff about like a normal road bike in top gear. Steering is limited as the wheel will hit the chain ring and crankarms. Turns need to kept to low lean angles.

Other than that it is like riding a bike.

Arcosine has a road going liner.

I just saw the original Varna on display on Sunday at a human powered vehicle presentation at the US bicycle museum in Davis, Ca. Interesting to see the development of these machines over time. Sorry no pix.

Here's a view of the SIM-LEI car (Cd 0.19) that I had not seen before:

I've stumbled upon some rare Tatra variants.

The 201 pickup sacrifices some of Jaray's finessing...

while the wagon/estate 201 somewhat resembles Kamm's BMW.

The Tatraplan-based 602 Sport has rear wheel skirts and looks pretty decent, aero wise.

while the F1-like 607 has an Auto Union feel going on. I like it a lot.

Look at that exhaust! It may have helped pressurize the wake, but perhaps its main purpose was intimidation...

Last, a Peugeot 402. It looks very much like a French-styled Tatra.

They are probably for active cooling when it is needed? I think the Impact is the car with the Cd of 0.19 - look Ma - no side mirrors!

The fans are mounted to generators, which make enough current for it to keep going, once it gets up to speed. They are the secret to it's astonishing performance.
