JDM Vs. Stock - Fuel Economy, Hypermiling, EcoModding News and Forum

Hey,
I was wondering, and can't find a straight answer to my question, is the stock VX motor and tranny out of a 92-95 Civic HB the exact same as the JDM equivalent? I want to do a swap into a CRX such as SVOboy did.. I've been wanting this for quite some time, I just want to know the difference and if I am going to get as good of gas mileage with a JDM motor and tranny as I would with the straight swap from the VX Civic..

I believe the answer is "no". But I don't know what the differences are, apart from the JDM one never having been certified for road use in the US.

If you get a JDM D15Z1, the basic answer is yes. You'll want the USDM ecm, though.

The primary key is the 3 stage Vtec cam setup.
