Earlier on this date I drove Boxy to a grocery store and back and it's close to a 26 mile trip, Two ways. I went as slow as 25 and even 20 MPH some times when going up hills, Accelerating up to 55 on some down-slopes emulating Diesel Dave's driving according to what I know about it (Part of which is: Keep the driving between 25 and 40 MPH; Accelerate to 40 and glide to 25 and then accelerate again.) I'll say this: Driving at 35 MPH is relaxing. There isn't a race going on, I just enjoy the ride and I do wave people on.

I'll also say that I can see why people drove cars made in the 1950s and 1960s so slow at times, Considering the windshields didn't have any tint to them and car accidents could be "Worse than meat at a slaughterhouse." I was driving home west-bound with the sun in my face and couldn't see without using the visor.

family is across the mountains, and the common drive on the interstate is 168 miles and 2:46 according to google.
The alternative year round route is 149 miles at lower limits, and 2:59.
The summer drive is only 134 miles and 3:09, and just opened up for the season.
I take them in order of miles driven every time now. It has been a couple of years since we traveled the interstate.
The difference is dramatic. The multi lane road is full of road raging rude inconsistent drivers. The two lane routes are the opposite, and so relaxing by comparison.

Some people like my uncle cannot be reasoned with lol. I just got here to LongBeach at his house and filled up right before I got here and got my first real figure with my Corolla, 39.7. I was bragging to my uncle and he says it's "More stressful" to pay attention to gas mileage that closely. I just smiled and waved xD. Ever since I became an eco driver, about 4 months or so ago, I haven't had a single road rage incident that I was the person angry. Even when someone else gets angry (normally at me doing 70 in the slow lane) I just smile and go back to paying attention to my throttle foot lol. I had a guy try to brake check me a while back, so I just slowed down and thought "Cool, an excuse to slow it down and save gas" LOL.

I remember driving my grandmothers '66 Chevy Biscayne. 4 door, 6 cylinder, auto, no power steering, no power brakes (yes on a car that big). No tinted windshield. It was one of the first cars I ever drove so the size didn't seem too bad but driving into the sun was horrible. Sunglasses were mandatory in that car lol.
