Lambo Huracan Performate's ALA, Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva
Lamborghini's Huracan Performante may have the usual supercar aero add-ons but it is the subtle unseen details that gives this Lambo a very active and responsive dynamic assistance. It is not like Ferrari's/McLaren's emphatic flappy rear spoilers, Ford GT flying buttresses or Porsche's high-speed angle of attack position, the Lambo uses ducting elements that control the airflow around the aero devices. The front and rear wing surfaces have internal diverting air ducts that controls less or more downforce, on front or rear of the vehicle. They can even control side-to-side downforce during cornering, by controlling the stall conditions on left or right sides of the wings - aero-vectoring.

Lambo. aero vectoring
Road & Track had a nice article about the car.By inverting logic, the 'blown' surfaces were made to stall lift (downforce),allowing selective drag reduction,or assymmetric loading (vectoring).Very clever!:)

Interesting stuff, does not look all that expensive to do, most likely just more stuff to go wrong when it gets older though.
I'm guessing most expense was developing the software and interface. Maybe they can make a buck franchising the technology. |
expensive
