Mora,
Yes, that would work. Since its max range is 750A vs 500A you’d need to set bAmp_scale to 24 to account for 1.5x decrease in sensitivity.
There are other options if you’d rather use a LEM. I see the LEM HASS 200S is available at Digi-key. That has a max range of 600A so is more comparable to the Tamura 400A(500A max).
bAmp_scale would need to be set to 19 for that one.
LEM HASS devices are more expensive, but they also have a larger aperture for the bus bar or cable. Tamura is 8mm x 15mm. LEM is 10.4mm x 20.4mm.
My 2/0 gauge cable barely fit into the Tamura aperture even after I stripped off a small section of the jacket.

Went for HASS 200S. Do I need to use first pin (Vref in/out) at all?

Also I can't find parameter bAmp_scale from .ASM -file. I see sAmp_scale but comment says it scales amp reading from serial input instead of external current sensor.

No, don't need vref output at all. It's 1/2 VCC which I accomplish on the board with VR1 and two resistors.

Sorry about the bAmp_scale. I just went off memory since I didn't have my development laptop available at the time.
Go to the section of code starting at line 1323. You'll need to remove the semicolons on the 6 lines of code there to allow bAmp scaling. Line 1325 selects the scaling value. This is where you would enter .19.

Cougar LCD Controller

Hi Chris,
I have been looking at OBDII interaces recently and came across this great site. Congatulations on all the work .. I really enjoy opensource and have done a few projects in the area of telescope control.
I am an embedded electronics engineer and worked with Protel for some time. If you are happy with chnages, I was thinking of adding a bluetooth I/F so that the board can talk directly to Android/Iphone devices.
The 'torque' product currently allows display of many measurements from the OBDII interface .. so it may be able to easily interface to your device.

I read most of this thread and I am very very impressed with your knowledge of electronics and programming. I do admit that I am WAY out of my depth but I am learning and hoping to convert a car to EV soon using the open revolt resources you kindly shared with us mere mortals. Hopefully you won't be too upset with me when I start asking questions

As you can see this is my first post and I just wanted to say, well done guys, you really are some community!! Hats off!

Could it be done in software to get charge mode screen reset back to normal operating screen by touching one of the buttons? Currently it needs a quick power down to get back from charge screen. I have LCD display wired always on exept the backlight of LCD, which comes on at the same time I turn parking/headlights on.

It would also be nice if PCB layout had ignition input (+12V) as well. This could be used to reset charge screen and turn backlight on. Board could stay powered on all the time then. Might require software changes too.

Mora,
Sorry for not getting back sooner. Dont' follow this very often.
See attached screenshot. Add the two lines after "Charge Mode"
marked with black line.
For this to work, your charge current needs to be under 3Amps.
Otherwise software automatically sets LZstat bit 2 and throws you back into charge mode. But from what you indicated, this is after charging is done and you don't want to cycle power to get to main screen. Quick & dirty with no switch debouncing, but it should get you to one of the main screens.
Personally, I have my main power input set to +12V ignition. I also feed +12V in from another AC/DC supply but through Oring diode. The AC from supply is plugged into my charger AC. So LCD controller either gets power from supply when charging or ignition in normal operation.
