Long time lurker

Hi,

I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to join. I drive a base model GMC Canyon mostly around town.

I only use the beginner/intermediate techniques. No P&G or EOC. I'm also not a huge fan of neutral coasting although I know this technique can result in good gains. For a stoplight, I usually downshift through the gears until around 15mph or so (2nd gear), and then pop it into neutral.

That's it in a nutshell. Nothing terribly exciting to note of. Just wanted to stop by and give a brief introduction.

Site's really cool. In the near future I'll probably update a fuel log (I have one on Excel that I've been using for a few months now - maybe I can transfer the data over).

Thanks for reading.

Neither was I, until I tried it and it really brought my fuel consumption down.

Coasting, even in neutral, is more efficient than engine braking (DFCO)

Keep in the highest gear as possible - downshifting only just before the engine starts using gas again to keep up the revs.
Downshifting uses gas

Welcome to E.M.
