Looking at a Jetta Diesel

A friend of my has an 86 jetta diesel for sale. It has 100k miles is a turbo 5 speed. He said that the brakes have a glitch in the master cylinder that caused the brake light to turn on occasionally but has it fixed. It is a good looking car. Any words of wisdom about such a car.
