Looking for new tires

Hey there, everyone!
I have recently got a Volkswagen Golf 4 from 1999. I know it's nothing really good, but I'm only looking for a car to get me from point A to point B, no questions asked. Now there's some things that I need to fix for the car, so it can be good for driving again, but right now I definitely need new tires. A friend of mine recommended me this website holmes tire, but I don't know if I should trust it, it doesn't look very good to me.
So, instead of wasting money, I want to ask you guys what tires should I buy? Any suggestions are welcome. I want some tires for the current season only, I'll probably be getting new ones during winter. Money is not an issue, but I don't want to spend too much on the tires either. Any replies are welcome, thank you!

First off, what size?

Also, I usually use tirerack.com for my reviews.

I have had good luck with the Continental True Contacts myself, but they work good for the 195/60/15 or 195/65/15

A great, and cheap, option is to go to a local discount tire store and see if they have any used tires. You might be able to find a set for dirt cheap. I once bought two almost new tires for $10 each.

If I were to get a new tire, I'd probably go with the Ecopia EP422 plus. Its standard equipment on the Nissan Leaf. It is a bit pricier than a generic tire. You have to figure out if that is worth it to you or not.

I got a pair of 195 15" Ecopia plus tires for $50 a pop off the clearance rack at wall land, just takes a bit of looking

Thank you for the answers, I'm still looking for more. :)

Low rolling resistance for sure. Michel's Energy Savers aren't half bad, and see typically very light and last a long time.

I've been happy with my gen 1 Ecopia 422's. Just okay in winter, but I also have winter tires.
Honestly, if I were only looking for tires for one or two summers, I'd look at used. What you might lose by not being the most fuel efficient will probably be more that made up for in the lower price.

Seems like every electric car runs the EP422 in a 205/55/16. Would you say that all the ep422's are equally LRR or that that size, in particular, has been reworked to eek out some more miles for the electric cars in that segment? (Think gen 1 Insight RE92). Would you guys run the EP422 or Michelin Energy Saver A/S? (Seems like all the Prius owners rave over the energy saver)

I also recently purchased a VW (1979). It shipped with 13s, it currently has 14s and I hope to get 15s down the road.

I priced Michelin Defender by phone at $132 and change per each. Then I drove to a local tire shop and got 2ea 80% tread-life 185/60-14 for $110. Including a half-rotation.
