Wise words, BBob, but time is short and I'll have to try an educated guess for starters. When educated guesses include "The easy way might work as well as the hard way," I default to what's easy. So...unless it's obvious to somebody that the 12 degree deck taper will be too steep once that tapered cabin is installed, I'll make my initial attempt without modifying my transom, and then experiment with improving it after I have a working (as in, capable of going through a rainstorm without getting my clothes wet) prototype of the cabin. Sound like a plan?

Oh, I'd definitely leave the deck alone for the time being. If you wind up with a bit too much angle on these things, you just stick on some boundary layer turbulators to thicken up the padding of slow air to allow the main flow to stay attached.

I have heard that a lot of period sports-racing cars are quite dry as long as they are moving briskly. For the stops, a canopy that does not meet the windscreen might suffice. That arrangement is becoming popular on Velomobiles, because it does the job, and avoids all the fuss about demisting a windshield.

Any updates on this project? How has it fared over the long term? I really liked where the builder was going with this!

Did you try an email or PM to the original poster?

I have noticed a side by side 2-seater mid/rear engine kit based on Lotus 7/Locost style car. It could have more promise for a re-skin than the front engine model in my opinion.

Midlana is a lightweight high performance sports car you build yourself; a reinterpretation of the classis Lotus Seven utilizing a modern FWD drivetrain mounted mid-engine. Mounting the engine behind the driver has many advantages over front-engine layouts:
