Seeing that Volt ad just reminded me of "happy" news this morning Chevy Volt spent $millions$ and has sold 125. That Salinas Triac electric car builder cost the city a half million dollars, closed the business - yelled bankrupt; and walked away- disappeared in the sunset. After Aptera, Alius, Zap, Th!nk, and City-El not making it - I don't feel too bad. I am retired and lost my condo due to red-tags; so I lost my garage with my electric trike in it. Had to write it off: thousands of dollars out the window. Workshop down the drain. All I can do is smile and be happy I got the Aspire out! Keep a stiff upper lip Lou! Good things take time.

WOW what a little crying can do hehehe
back working at the yard-sale thing with my old boss man, made couple hundred this past weekend
was wondering anybody know if I can mix the 4 6v-225ah battery's I bought back in Dec. will still have a equal rating with any new battery's I will buy?
I still got to get 16 more I've only done a few controller test with them back in January.

Should be ok. Lead acid is particularly forgiving. Especially FLA. Glad to hear things are looking up. I know what it can be like!

I would be the connection of IGBT capacitor. Looks a bit long and thin. Inductance here is really bad. That said, theory of justice. I was told that my controller does not move the car before blowing three feet.

Shenglu you re quoted Jackauer comment from a couple pages back I guess your wanting to know a update what I thought about it, at the time I knew it was long and thin but it was just in the testing phase with just 24 volts and under 200 amps, it's still working but not what the finished product

Got the Saturn almost paid off just by the gas I'm saving from getting rid of that old van then I can concentrate on finishing the EV.

Well great Ecomodding everybody and hope to be back on track soon I'm working seven says a week and loving it not complaining a bit, but it has put personal project on hold but like they say there not eating anything just sitting there so all good

hey everybody,
was poking around ebay and won this 48v 300a ac motor controller for $19, I was just being cute and put a $30 bid on it thinking it would go up to around $500 but I won it lastnight
was wondering if it's a good controller and can I use it for anything?
I'm tickled silly that I won it I'm always looking for new toys to tinker on
being only 48v does anybody think it's be a good controller for my ev and what kind of motor would I look for??
it came off a Kamatsu forklift I think since thats what rolled off a doc and getting junked out.
Shwarzmuller GmbH AC Motor Controller
Model# dACi-TA48/300 KA

any insights anybody mite have or a link for a wiring diagram would help a lot.
I'll take pictures of the insides when I get it for all to see

Good buy!

I found this link - looks like a useful wiring diagram, some application notes

http://www.sauer-danfoss.com/stellen.../bln-10294.pdf

300A at 48 VDC gives you about 20 HP if you can find a motor that is rated between 150A - 175A at 30 - 35 VAC. That's a pretty weird voltage.

The current is too high for a typical induction motor. This is the best I could find ... 50 HP, 200V, 150A full load. The voltage is way low, it will take the maximum current, but is very heavy.

Perhaps you could use a 48VDC motor and use the controller as a way to vary the output voltage, through a set of diodes.

Sorry guy's for the slow updates,
my old bossman died a few weeks ago he was like my step dad I never had and it hit me hard I been taking care of him and his wife for years,
I would leave home at dawn help him all day then take him to visit his wife in the nursing home then get him home and then get home at dark each night to tired to do anything.
he must of knew he didn't have long left he ask me a few weeks before the end if I could move into his apt. at his house so he could get his wife home from the nursing home and have someone their to help take care of her so I promised I would.

being a care giver and living away from home and not getting to tinker on my car
and my mom is disabled that lived with me at my house so I drive the 25 miles back and forth to help both is throne a wrench in to what I thought was important, but I'm not going to complain about it I still feel good inside about my choices.
now my auntie (moms last sister) just died a few days ago is making me feel is trying hard to be something or not worth it? were all going to go anyway and what we did or done isn't going to matter to anybody else anyway.

I'm not trying to cry to anyone just trying to make since of it all, I'm feeling like the zen with out the zang, ( not balanced)

well I can't bring my car here to work on it but I love building electronics so I been chatting with Paul about some new boards to put together to pass the boredom
in between pottie duty's and nursing duty's LOL

ADAM!!! are you around?? I was planning on ordering one of them big ring capacitors and was wanting to know if you have any of them copper kits ready to sale and how much hehhe.
well guys good chatting with you and hope everybody love's the one's that care to you because you'll never know.
