Man, I've got to stop being busy.
I'd love to come, but I have a feeling I'll be swamped with work by then, since I'm already swamped 2 weeks into the semester. So, in the off chance that there's still a spot left by a few days before, and if I don't have a ton of work to do, then I'll fill that last spot. Otherwise, hopefully I'll have a real job next year and some free time to make it to one of these.

When a car looks like it can't take any more fuel, may I suggest that it be vigorously rocked up and down and from side to side to eliminate any air bubbles. Last time around I rocked my car a bit till I could not fill any more, but I could still only get 0.85 gallon in. So I put the cap back on and then I really rocked it hard, I was able to get an other 0.3 gallon in.

So far, never more than one per event. There are two people right now that say they will be bringing a bike, but as this event is on November 1st, I'll believe it when I see it.

We'd love to have a Tercel join the mix. C'mon out if you can!

Hi,
I hope to be able to witness this event; I'll have to settle out my calendar.

I got a letter in the mail from the State yesterday! Yes, the Insight should be road-legal some time in early- to mid-October, and it should be present at AMEC IV with a small number of small mods.

Awesome! Looking forward to it.
I made a small change for the classes being offered. It's obvious that no motorcycles are coming this time around, so I replaced that class with one for A.M.E.C.'s Street Legal Class ice racers. There are three signed up so far.
Also, if it doesn't rain Jonathan Bartlett will bring his red Saab Sonett instead of his Cabrio, and Claude Hutchings his yellow Sonett, instead of his 9-3.
Just four spots left!

Traditional wisdom says that the cooler it gets outside, the worse our fuel mileages are. My question to all of you is: What if the extended warm up times are taken out of the equation? Our cars will be warmed up before we start this event. Can we possibly get the big mpg numbers in November?
Racers know that cooler air enables an engine to make more power. Does cooler air help mileage as well?
Mike

Cooler air is denser so there's a bit more aero drag. Wheel bearings and tires take more time to get to operating temps too. But on the plus side we might be able to block more grille area. I think we'll still be able to pull nice numbers.
