McLaren MP4-X concept
 

Formula One is at the crossroads, it has to evolve to bring the highest technology available for the race world but it is also stifled by strict regulations. McLaren MPX-X Formula One concept jumps generational evolution and puts together a concept without F1 constriction; prohibitive budgets and even material limitations. The concept is fully electric, batteries shaped to also be an aerodynamic & structural part of the body and gets boost from inductive track sections. Getting rid of the open cockpit. the active photochromic canopy adjusts to lighting conditions for better driver vision. Getting rid of mirrors, the driver gets additional helmet HUD/video feed from multiple cameras. There is even proposed helmet brain sensors to have the ability to have extra fine tuning driving control. Every exterior body part have an active aero-articulation control. The concept even askew rubber tires for graphene and buckyball compounds...wake up now designers!

Are they going to 'Garage 56' it at LeMans? Like the Nissan Delta Wing?
Inductive power from the track will be an issue.

Make the whole track inductive and we may see an end to people going all four wheels off at the corners just to cut time.
