I like how your Metro just shoved the Chevy up the driveway like it was nothing!
And, can't wait to see the Chevy running on bio!

LOL - I just lock my xfer case in 4x4 LO and leave the front hubs unlocked so I'm still only driving 2 wheels. I get the super low gearing of 4x4LO, but not the notchy driving of actually using 4 tires.

Hang in there Bennelson.
If you can find a formula for this conversion you might be able to sell it commercially.
A lot of old 300D cars are starting to rust out and a lot of S-10s, Rangers, Dakotas, and Jeeps hunger for an efficient engine that can give generations of service.

I sold some more parts off the Mercedes, including the windshield and dashboard. Still haven't recouped the cost of buying the car, but I still have the tranny, radiator, and the car scrap metal value coming.
A few days ago, I ordered a 8.5" clutch with a 26 spline center. The place was near my friend, Rich, so he picked it up for me, and I got it from him today.
I still need to get a Mercedes clutch cover, then we can put together the motor and tranny, and see how big the adapter plate will need to be.

Sorry for the lack of updates in a while.
This is, unfortunately, my "back-burner" project.
I ordered and now have a clutch with spines to go on the Chevy S-10 transmission, but with just a little smaller friction area diameter, so it fits INSIDE the Mercedes manual flywheel.
Yesterday, I ordered a Mercedes clutch cover plate. Mercedes parts are expensive, so I am glad it's only the one part I need!
Once that shows up, I can put together the Mercedes engine, Mercedes manual tranny flywheel, custom clutch, and Mercedes cover plate to see how it matches up to the Chevy transmission.
Then I can take measurements and see what will be needed for an adapter plate to mount the engine to the transmission.
(PS - the 240D itself got hauled off to the scrap yard a few weeks ago.)

Ben,
I was in the garage the other day, and realized that I was going to take measurements to put the S10 transmission against the Merc's motor... then I realized that it had been a long time since I was supposed to do that. Then I realized that I no longer have the S10's transmission. Sorry, dropped the ball on that one.
Guess counting on me for anything probably isn't such a good idea...

Hee hee.
No big deal. I'll do all the real-world measurements once I have all the parts together in my garage.

Still, I'm just not going to offer to do things like this anymore.
Can't wait to see what you come up with.
