Metro mileage reborn

I have a '98 Metro with 186K and was getting really bad mileage; 33mpg. Then I found this site and found out why. I checked my tires first and only had 25psi in each one, so I aired them up to 44psi, and right off got 39mpg. I then started to modify the way I was driving and my mileage went up to 44mpg. I can't wait to fill up today. I'm on course to even better than that. Thanks for a great site.

Start with a good tune-up if you haven't done it already. Check your engine compression when you replace spark plugs and check the timing belt. Air dam and radiator duct work, along with rear wheel skirts would reduce drag. A target of 50 mpg is good for the next step! Enjoy!
