Brakes get heat cycled. Mine have 91K miles of heat cycling. And it is not at all unusual for a rotor to fail catastrophically. So go ahead and call me paranoid. I'll call you an ambulance when your perfectly good brakes fail under an extreme circumstance.

I'm not buying it. Pretty sure my '81 VW Rabbit had its original rotors and after 30 years they still worked fine. If you're not racing or driving in the mountains your brakes shouldn't get too hot. But hey, I'm not a mechanic.

I wonder if that's going to happen before or after my Tempo does aero endos off the road because Hermie a.k.a. aeromodder says it has so much lift?

Actually I've never seen nor heard of catastrophic rotor failure, although I have seen warpage from a stuck caliper (motorcycle) and gouges from braking with brake pads that no longer had linings.

It is not just catastrophic failure. I lost my '86 Rabbit when some jerk cut me off and slammed the brakes (for a R/R crossing light, but he did brake way early). Even though I started braking before he did, I slid into him anyway. ABS on a new car versus bad brakes and tires on an old one.

The damage was not that bad but the Rabbit was a real health hazard, offering no protection at all.
