Block heater questions

I've done some googling but I'm still unsure as I've never had a car with a block heater nor have I ever installed one. Now I have a 99 Camry 4 cylinder so I'm guessing my options are few. I found this on ebay is it good? Any have experience at installing one like this do I have other options? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks btw I'm in Mississippi so it doesn't get too terribly cold

These block heater are usually not so hard to install but it depends on the car. You should have the best results with this type of heater.

There are other options : heater pads for oil pan and transmission for example.

Thanks yeah there is a clear view to the freeze plug. I'll have to check those out.

The most bang for the buck would be the freeze out plug type heater.

What the lowest temps you encounter down there?

Sometimes it gets in the teens but I would say 30ish normally which brings me to my next question how strong of one do I need? Thanks

I use 400w but it wouldn't hurt to go a little more. Like oil pans link says 600w would be pretty good for a 4 cylinder but 400 is enough for me. I shoot for a minimum plug in time of 1 hour but a good goal is about 2 hours.
