Smile My summer fill-up: 80 mpg (US)

Woohoo! Broke 80 mpg... barely ... for my summer tank!

(blackfly fuel log)

Also, I cracked 1000 km for the first time (legitimately), and could have gone a lot farther (put 32 litres into a 40 litre tank).

FYI, this was 100% highway trips (with sub/urban stuff on each end). The first part of the tank would have been P&G, but by the second half, I had decided to mostly just drive with load, and keep working on the aero mods.

Also, the alternator was disabled for about 1/3 of the distance (end of the tank).

I don't have SG data for tank avg speed, etc, because I loaned it out partway through my tank (so it messed up my data).

And 1 question how much throttle do you give on your pulse? 1/2, 3/4 I am thinking about starting some p&g.

Thanks! About the pulse, I don't know exactly... Probably closer to 1/2 than 1/3 throttle if I had to guess. My experience is that the car can get phenomenal P&G fuel economy at low/moderate speeds (no more than about 40-45 mph average), but not so much at higher speeds (light weight + poor aero = short glides).

I am interested in about a 35 mph average, up to 40 down to 30. What gear 3rd, 4th? I just figured you are the guy to ask beings you keep killing my averages. This is in my 91 Xfi.

Your 90 days Fuel economy is over 200% EPA

I do have to continue my grill block, the preliminary version (ie cardboard and tape) is already cut up then to empty+fill my tank to know where I'm... but I'll be happy to be at 120% EPA : often I'm far from being slow enough

Denis.
