they started using unleaded fuel this year.
they get 4 MPG @ speed
they take off all the lug nuts, drop them on the concrete, pour gas all over, and then burn out. they shoot lug nuts all over the place, and then wonder why they have tire failures.

i'd like to see a TDI run the races without stopping.

they should have to run stock cars, take out the glass, and drive it.

i saw my first Bristol this year.

I was actually watching NASCAR the other day (my once annual viewing) and apparently these new "Cars of Tomorrow" that they are racing are now using UNLEADED fuel. They were talking about the heat in the car, when I was watching, and how UNLEADED creates a higher exhaust heat so the drivers were starting to complain that it was getting too hot and they were showing off the little peltier cooling boxes that they had hooked up to the drivers helmets to help cool them down during the race.

I agree, stock car racing was cool in the 50s and 60s when the race cars were literally off the showroom floor and some serious tuning only required.

I chuckle to myself when I think that safety equipment at the time was a helmet and a lap belt (well in the late 60s at least).

cool thread!

i think it would be cool to set a minimum speed and everyone gets the same amount of gas. whoever runs out of gas last wins.

I am not at all interested in NASCAR; but GO DALE!

Now Dirt racing is AWESOME. Only been to 2 races; but WOW that's entertainment.

That's what I'm talking about:

No clue what these guys get for MPG (or probably rated in L/100km), but flat out driving like that can't be that efficient lol. They are all limited to either 2.0L or 2.5L engines, so I'm sure its a bit better than NASCAR's 4MPG.
