Need Geo Metro information..

I'm going to buy a Geo Metro for a FE car..

I'd like to find out what options were available for these..

My year range would be the first OBDII year (96?) and newer..

I'm digging the hatchback shape..
Was there a OBDII version that had sealed beam glass headlights?
I hate plastic, they get yellow and its a waste of time.. I can make a plexi areo setup to enclose it..

Whats the measurment bumper to bumper of a Geo Metro hatchback?
Was there ever a cruise control, a/c combo package?

I know there were at least 2 engine combo's. (1.0-3cyl and 1.3-4cyl)

If anyone can give me a heads up on whats what, that would be fantastic, the web isn't being too reasonable for my search criteria..

I'm not sure about the headlight question - Canadian market cars after '95 only came with the aero headlights, but the US market had sealed beams on some cars. Not sure which ones.

I've seen factory A/C on some (very few) 3 cyl cars.

I've never seen factory cruise, but you can install your own.

96 to 98 there was three drive set ups that i know of....

1.0L 5sp manual Compare Old and New MPG Estimates
1.3L 5sp manual Compare Old and New MPG Estimates
1.3L 3sp auto Compare Old and New MPG Estimates

the auto trans as far as gearing goes is about like a ford C6 or GM T400 3 speed trans. theres no O\D and no converter lock up
1st is WAY tall 3rd is WAY short and your in 2nd when wide open.
thus the mpg of the auto is a sizable amount less then the manual trans versions.

this model is getting rare but it had the best mpg rating.

+1. The auto ruins them. My wife had a '99 1.3 auto. It SCREAMED on the freeway. No lockup. Pathetic fuel mileage for what it was.

The 4-cylinder gained 9 HP and 8 more valves in 1998. There are a few '95-'97 cars with the sealed beam headlights. They can be retrofitted to any '95-'01 Metro/Swift, but on the '98+ cars, you'll lose the front turn signals when you remove the plastic headlights. It's not that hard to polish plastic lights.

One of the local universities here had some late '90s, 3cylinder with A/C cars that they had for use on campus. I guess they ordered them that way as a fleet order, too bad they were automatics as they sold them off for dirt cheap when they got rid of them last year.

Edit - just noticed this is a 5 year old thread, I am guessing they found their car by now lol
