Doesn't work like that. These cars are designed to beat the official testing procedure. It's almost impossible to achieve these results in real life. As a general rule, the more economical the car, the less is 'left on the table' for us hypermilers and ecomodders.

I've gotten 100mpg Imp out of my 2 cyl Fiat, but frankly no one can drive like that on anything but ideal rural roads. If you look at my sig, it's my only car that can't match it's rated numbers. Most are lucky to get within 40% in the real world, even driving with economy in mind.

It was about time for them to release the 1.4TDI for the A3 and the Golf. Regarding the 1.0TFSI, it would be nice to see it in my country, but I guess it won't happen so soon because 1.0L displacement is deemed a "povertry-feature" back here...
