Been working on the advanced search for several hours. Hitting a roadblock here or there. Hopefully will have something function up by tonight. Don't expect it to be pretty though.

Got something (hopefully) functional up. As usual, complain until it gets better

How do I search for two different makes/models of cars, like Vibes and Matrix's (Matrii? Matrixies?) ? Separating with a comma doesn't seem to work.

There's a good question. I will try to incorporate the standard boolean search operators today when I get home from a Smart car event in NYC

I really do like all the search features you've added.
Thanks again for taking time to make this a great forum!!!

I have noticed with my particular vehicle's case though, that I hit a snag....
Chevy/Chevrolet and s10/s 10/s-10 are all same truck model, yet come up with different results with each search depending on which version or combination you use...

It seems like when adding a vehicle, if a drop down menu like you see on auto sales/parts websites was available, it would make things a little more uniform. I also wonder if it would be possible to correct/modify the current garage entries????? ...maybe make it mandatory when you go to enter your next fuel log, that you have to update those new parameters??????

Just thinking out loud for ya hear....thanks again!

I think you can correct and modify entries.

Ben was importing EPA for GreenCarAlbum so it'd automatically fill in mileage. This is similar to the menu. I think it's a good idea, although for now members can use standard names, such as, "S-10"

Yes, I know we can correct/modify our own fuel log entries and garage info. What I meant by "current garage entries" was the make and model info for all vehicles... sorry bout that(head and fingers not cooperating).

The 3 versions I listed will yield different results when you search. At least with my truck, people list it all sorts of ways

I was thinking that if a make and model drop menu was available, then it would be standardized. And, expanding on what I said earlier, maybe make it mandatory to update the make and model parameters with a standardized drop menu with your next fuel log, then you would only be prompted to update info every 1-2 years(kinda like they do at our local library to make sure your info is up to date)....

I haven't really searched other makes and models so I'm not sure if it is even an issue for other folks.

It's okay. My head and fingers aren't cooperating either. I think the menu is a good idea. I was saying the people with S-10s could use "S-10" only so you wouldn't have a problem in the search
