New here... doing a bit of hypermiling in my Miata.

After years living in Detroit, driving trucks and big cars and gas guzzling race-rods, I decided to come to my senses and buy an econobox. Not to be happy in 4 doors and 4 wheels, I decided to spice it up a bit with a Mazda Miata.

I have one of the older 1.6L motors and a manual transmission. I find that if I keep off the gas, shift early, coast to stops and am generally a more aware driver, not only do I get around 35MPG, but I'm also a safer driver!

So that's my story. Nice to meet you all!

Hi - welcome to the site.

Is your Miata too old for a ScanGuage?

A relative of mine had a '90 version, and I loved driving it. Geared very low for efficient highway cruising though.
