Ok it's official... operation normal DD 60mpg is a go.

I'm buying back my old 1993 CX
and I have a full VX Swap
And I have a spare HF trans laying around

See where this is going?

HX wheels and going to put some 185/65/14 tires on it.
Thinking
RE92's? Goodyear Fuel Max? Will decide later. (I live in Florida so snow isn't worried about)

But...

93 CX car
VX engine/ecu/02 Sensor/harness/
HF trans
HX wheels

(Got anything else I can include to make it more of a Frankenstein :')

Best FE engine with longest geared trans, in lightest 5th Gen civic.....

Going to do a mostly blocked lower grill (adjustable opening) and a lawn edging front lip. Any other little basic things. I'm daily driving this.

G1 Insight wheels fit, those are more aerodynamic.

Maybe give it a partial kammback?

I want it to look and function 98% like a normal car. So wheel cover (can't remember if that's proper term), boat tail, kammback are out. I want to do WAI also and maybe flat underside.

Insight wheels are also a pound lighter than HX, for what it's worth - I have both.

(not my car)

The only RE92's that are LRR are the 165/65r14's. In the 185 size I believe you're going to want Michelin Energy Savers, which aren't quite as LRR but have something like 2-3x the tread life.

Block that grille, put a belly pan or air dam on it, and fill your tires up. Add an engine kill switch and if you're feeling adventurous, an alternator kill + deep cycle battery (so you can still turn the alternator back on if you need it), and you should be able to surpass your goal.

I always use tirerack for reviews and ratings on tires,

I personally like the Continental TrueContacts, most are rated 90K miles with a treadwear of 800AA or better, they are quiet and ride nice even when aired up to hypermiler pressures!....Just my .02

And grippy as hell. My old jeep Cherokee had them.

I'd say, definitely do a full belly pan, front lip, WAI, max sidewall pressure and EOC kill switch. Also install an MPGuino, it dramatically helped me improve my driving habits. I do synthetic fluids too, not sure if they help or not, but worth a shot. Another thing you could consider is removing your power steering (if it has it) and switching to manual or if you must have power steering you could switch to electric by using the parts from an MR2. That's what I'll be doing, eventually.

All my civic that had PS were "converted " to manual.
MPGuino is a must. (Where should I order from)

Mpguino.wiseman.ee ?

And what's the setup and technique behind the EOC kill switch?

It will get full synthetic fluid (Probably Castrol) and I usually use Synchromesh in all my manual transmission cars (including my JDM LSD trans for my honda). Occasionally on a built trans I use Red Line lightweight synthetic too...wonder where those stand on FE

Yeah, I got mine through Mpguino.wiseman.ee

As far as the EOC kill switch HERE is a write-up I found. I did mine differently though. I put a switch in-line (before) my under-hood injector fuse, to interrupt my injectors. You can do a toggle switch or a momentary switch. I installed a toggle at first and then changed it to a momentary switch, which IMO is more convenient to use.

Not sure if the Redline/Synchromesh will do much for mpg, but I plan to change to Synchromesh pretty soon.

Edit: I'd also recommend removing your mudflaps, they don't really do anything but mess up airflow. That was the very first mod I did on my car. It won't help much, but little gains start to add up you... Especially aero gains. Once they are off, can't tell it ever had them to begin with, so it still looks completely stock.
