Hello all, I find everything on this forum interesting. To me performance and economy are not mutually exclusive. I am interested in both. I drive a Dodge Neon, a 1966 Corvair, a 2000 full size GMC van, and a 2005 Toyota Camry. All have there own merits. The Corvair is the most fun to work on and is the original American economy car. My four carb performance version with 235/60-14 tires and 3.55:1 final gearing gets 25 mpg.
Just wondering if everyone has seen this Volkswagen: AutoSpeed
This is a good automotive modification site and Julian's articles in particular are good. He aso is a believer in human powered vehichles.

Hi Steve -

Yes, have a search around and you'll see more than a couple of threads about the VW 1L car - even more threads referencing other Autospeed articles.

Julian's work is a great resource. He's registered here and occasionally pops up to let us know about relevant info on his site.

Welcome to the forum!

Gibsonvair -

Welcome to EM! We both drive Z-Body cars because the Corvair and Saturn S-Series were designated Z-Body inside GM. I guess that makes the S-Series the second American economy car. If Saturn goes kaput or is bought by a foreign outfit, I am thinking of getting a Corvair or Lakewood emblem for my mini-wagon.

There are some threads on the 1L if you search for them. Lots of good ideas in that 1L.
