New thermostat

I changed out the thermostat in DaGnoma this evening from 180F to 195F for a whopping $8. I can't remember exactly why I had installed the 180F in the first place, probably just to drop the temp in the summer a few years back. This week so far I have averaged about 26.7 MPG +/- 0.5 each way on my commute. This evening was a little more dramatic, dropping down to about 25 MPG, thanks to one helluva wreck on the main highway back home - creating bumper to bumper traffic crawling at 10 mph for about eight miles... ugh. It's a little difficult to do ABA testing on a 'stat, but the weather and my FE have been pretty consistent as of late, so I'll post back tomorrow with the results.

And of course, I didn't pay attention to the weather... it will be raining for the next four days straight.

For sure! Usually I wash the car when there is only a slight chance of rain - that way rain is certain. Sort of like a rain dance, but with a sponge.

I may install a new and tested 195'F thermostat this weekend.
I have a feeling the one I have now isn't closing all the way and the gasket is seeping antifreeze so I will be looking to see the effect in fuel milage.
