New wheels/tires add 32 lbs to my Geo / mpg stays the same!

Hi gang, have not posted in a long time but thought you might be interested in this.

I use my 96 Geo for delivery of rims and tires that I sell...mostly Corvette and Mustang rims. My best mpg was 57. Tired of the ugly 13s I purchased the following rimsand tires:

Sorry - File Not Found ... sort=Price

Tires ... es&place=0

This package is 8 lbs per corner heavier than the 155x80x13s that were on the car. I can feel a difference in acceleration...instead of shifting at 2800 I shift at 3300 for the same acceleration.

The old tires had a max air pressure of 35 psi while these hold 51! What would you think would happen to the economy?

Around town and on long hilly trips I have lost an average of 2 mpg (southern IN, KY, and OH by-ways)...BUT on extended high way trips I have matched my 57 mpg best! The higher tire pressure and less rolling resistance cancels out the extra rotating wt.

As far as clearance goes...there is VERY minor tire to fender rub on the drivers side rear when I haul 400 lbs (8 rims with tires mounted) in it and only on extremely bumpy roads.

Tire Rack will not list this set up for the 96 Geo, but does for the Suzuki Swift.
