Newbie from the MS Gulf Coast

Hello everyone. I found this site the other day and have been readin as many threads as I can in a days time and still be productive at work.
I live on the MS gulf Coast (Hurricane Katrina ville) I have an 87 toyo pick-up. It's not running at the moment. transmission is fresh, so I think this will be a great start for a conversion. Anyone out there with suggestions about a good starting point, please don't hesitate to email me, or post. Thanks guys, I look forward to sharing and learning with you guys.

Like Daox said, check out the 100+ hypermiling / ecodriving tips to increase gas mileage - EcoModder.com

Maybe get some sort of bed cover for it, install a vacuum gauge to maintain throttle, try blocking off some of the grill, and make sure the tires are properly inflated to begin with.
