Newbie from Salty City

Newly registered here, but I've been a long time browser. Own a TDI that has more than paid for itself in fuel savings since 2003. 120K and still going strong. Averages 45 mpg, with occasional tanks as high as 57 mpg when conditions are just right.

Just bought a Kawasaki Ninja 250 "Ninjette" to commute on this summer. Tales of 75 mpg are common, and I've seen one account here of over 101mpg! That is probably not going to happen at this altitude and with my commute, but we will see.

My "pet" project is our motorhome. It has never seen over about 7 mpg. We use it extensively during the summer and "store" it in Nevada during the winter; we often sneak down into the sunshine and use it during the winter months there. I am considering putting a CNG conversion on it. The return on investment looks pretty good with gasoline at 2.85 and CNG at .85 locally. I can see gasoline spiking much higher long term, thus I am willing to make the "investment" in order to keep the option of using the motorhome for a few more years.

I have considered a diesel conversion, but the numbers just don't work as well.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to EM. Your plans and vehicles sound good. We were in Peru last Spring, and LPG conversions were $400 USD down there. Sigh.
