News: Hyundai Takes the Lead as the Most Fuel-Efficient Automaker in America

These things are always a bit of a numbers game, because the company doesn't actually sell any segment-leading vehicles, as far as I know.

It's all about the fleet average - and the fact that they don't sell any trucks in the US.

I'm not bashing them! They are making an effort:
Hot off the presses:

Quote:
The EPA 2009 Light-Duty Automotive Technology and Fuel Economy Trends Report indicates that Hyundai has the highest MY 2009 laboratory 55/45 fuel economy with 30.1 miles per gallon (mpg). Hyundai is also the only automaker(1) to top 30 mpg in the report.
Full press release: Hyundai Takes the Lead as the Most Fuel-Efficient Automaker in America

You can be sure they'll be honking their own horn about this in marketing efforts.

Right on!!
The only reason Hyundai is on top is because they sell zero trucks and only three SUVs. Compare that to Toyota who sells two trucks and SEVEN SUVs.

Because we are big dumb redneck Americans and we only want V8s that thunder and use lots of gas pushing our empty Super Duties down the highway at 100 MPH in the fast lane while warming our butts in heated leather seats and chowing down on double quarter pounders and texting on our cell phones. We cant understand non-V8 engines because that ain't whut NASCAR uses...
Not this American.
