Electric auxiliary drive for semi-trailers in Brazil

Randon, one of the most prominent manufacturers of semi-trailers and other truck implements in Brazil, now offers an electric auxiliary drive as an option for some of its semi-trailers.

Thanks for linking this in the other thread. I'd missed it in 2020.

I can translate some of that but it's not clear how it's controlled. Is that what EQUIPADO COM E-SYS is about?

Trailer is where a hybrid or EV truck battery should live. There's tons of empty space under the load deck, and if you've got a reefer, you want the power bank to stay on the trailer to continue cooling it.

Not sure if such a hybrid setup would be enough to get rid of the ICE-powered reefer unit in a refrigerated trailer, yet AFAIK Thermo King already makes some equipments resorting to a Diesel-powered genset and an electric compressor, instead of an engine-driven compressor. Adding solar panels could eventually make sense to a hybridized refrigerated trailer.

I don't know how it's controlled, but E-Sys is the commercial nomenclature used by the maker of the trailers fitted with that.
