Non permanent glue? Something that actually holds?

I need to glue a CB radio mount to my car cause i want to be able to remove it if I resell the car.

Hot glue did not work, soon as it got too hot the mount fell off with the CB radio.

So does anyone know of any non permanent glue that will actually hold?

construction adhesive. {liquid nails} The stuff they use to glue kitchen counters on with or mirrors to walls...
Three big globs should do the trick, and peal off fairly well when you're done.

cool, but then how do you try to take it off? Do you have to chisel at it or what?

I'm wondering how can something hold strong and not be permanent. For the hot glue i planned to blast it with a hairdryer to take it off, i didnt think it would get so hot in the car the glue would just peel off!

How do you get liquid nails off?

construction adhesive (liquid nails) dries a little softer than your hot glue and should stick well to a cars plastic interior. Your hot glue dries out too much to hold the weight and fails from the vibrations. Being softer and stickier liquid nails should hold for a few years if applied correctly. Liquid nails should also snap off with some gentle prying and clean up with thinner.

Use silicon caulk, you will have to use a razer blade to get it off but it will come off clean and it will not take the paint off.

Try this stuff. Good adhesion and works up to 180deg F. Can later be peeled away.

I used to have a CB in the old 6000 wagon. I stuffed it between the driver seat and the center console, no bracket.

You may also be able to make a bracket that attaches to existing screw holes.

I'm not knocking the adhesives listed, I bet they are pretty good. Just giving other ideas. Just one thing, make sure to ventilate the car well if you use adhesives. Some adhesives (like seam sealer that looks a lot like liquid nails) gives off strong vapors for days on end.

100% silicon adhesive.
Put it on thick, and when the time comes to peel it off, it will peel off in 1 piece.

I tried the liquid nails and didn't like it. I was attaching black velcro to the gray plastic edge of solar panels that get 100% sun exposure and it just came off after a while. If I were you, I'd take apart the center console and see if I can find a point where I can mount a bracket, just like wagonman76 says. If you have to drill holes somewhere, find a "not in your face" location and make sure to drill holes in sizes that can be covered up with plastic plugs.
