They're actually on ebay motors quite a bit... my dad has one. They're fun to drive and built like a tank. Expect occasional repairs to be more than what you pay for it though...

If you are considering a Mercedes diesel, get the Turbo diesel version. They get better mileage and have a lot more power.

Yes, they are not hard to adjust. But without a turbo, they are painfully slow. I know several people who have converted the 300D turbo to a manual with the 240D 4 speed. That is the ideal diesel Mercedes.

Isn't the 4sp a non-overdrive unit? Too bad? Even the 4sp auto is a non-overdrive of this vintage. How 'bout a 5sp? would that work?
