People claim to drive the speed limit, too.
There was a time when gas seemed awesomely cheap. I still drove economically and did not seem like was getting ahead. Now I just feel more and more like I cannot catch a break. I imagine some diehard EV fanboys would say that I could not afford not to replace my car with electric.
I try to enter Publisher's Clearinghouse everyday for free false hope. They have a contest for some $55,000 truck.
How much would I need to pay in taxes for that? How much would insurance cost, compared to my two 40 MPG teenagers with 200,000 miles average? What would I do with it? If I hauled "stuff" or went off road it would be damaged. How much would gas cost?
Irony would suggest that would be the one thing that I won, they would refuse a cash equivalent, and then would give the trophy to someone else.

Do you track your expenses with any app or spreadsheet? Getting ahead is a simple matter of ensuring outflow is less than inflow. Give proportionally more attention to cutting back on the larger expenditures, and give proportionally more attention to the largest sources of income. Be price sensitive about everything; nothing is too small to consider. This is the behavior of a frugalist.
Regarding winning; I don't gamble because unearned gains don't satisfy me. The last thing I won was a 42" LCD TV, and I donated it.

Ironically, most of the times I see EV fanboys ranting, they point out that EVs are more affordable to operate, even though the batteries are still quite expensive.

As I have mentioned, my teenage Hondas have around 200,000 miles on them. I believe there are zero electric cars made in 1999 or 2000 that can still go 500 - 600 miles at a time, or even 90% as far as they did while new.

White Zombie, Black Current. The cables get expensive when they melt all the time.

Yeah. I don't gamble either (if you overlook my long-ago career as a card-counter), though sometimes I do donate to charity raffles. Only thing I every remember winning is a 1/4 ounce Krugerrand. Given that that was back in the early '90s, and I still have it, maybe I came out ahead on the deal :-)

Quentin Hapsburg: Do you gamble?
Lt. Frank Drebin: Every time I order out.

Yikes! At least install https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere.
I'd use a VPN if I could pay for one with cash.

Interesting. I was suggesting that I get in trouble whenever I open my mouth.
