6 speeds on this thing might just do 80; it *feels* stupid powerful.

ethanol can quickly kill a 2 stroke, I ended up rebuilding my Yamaha RD350 twice because of ethanol, burned a hole the size of a pencil through the piston, it's because they are more sensitive to running lean and with alcohool you need to change the fuel/air mix.

I broke the motor mount trying to snap start it from cold yesterday; no fault of the product, just of my mounting system; I had a pair of M4 bolts acting as motor mounts (both compression and tension). Naturally it was me who broke it, not the primary user.

Plan is to put the bolts through lengths of 1/8 steel tubing so I can keep the bolts in tension and put the pipe in compression.

There's a tire shop on my commute home that has an old-school Whizzer-equipped bike (which this closely resembles) for sale on their front lot. I haven't slowed down to really take it in, but it tempts. Then the 22-mile commute reminds, and the temptation is gone.

Some of the latest-generation bike motors claim outrageous mileage numbers, up to 200mpg for one or other variety of Golden Eagle. I think I'd be more attracted to the thump of the big cylinder coming from between my ankles than the frantic rasp of the little Tanaka from somewhere behind/under my keister.

Fixed the mount today; and instantly realized that it was my (to stiff) strap causing the bolts to bend out and eventually break, not really the overall design, I'll build a much improved mount; hopefully tomorrow.

Built an entirely new mount today (VERY STRONG) motor now vibrates the bike much more; I actually like it because it increases the power "feel" while using no more fuel. Unfortunately everything that wasn't securely fastened has come loose, rear fender, front fender, rear carrier, false tank, etc. I'm going to try and bolt it all down nicely tomorrow.

I always wonder how legal these homemade mopeds are. I think I would get in trouble if I started cruising the streets of Pittsburgh in one.

All of our Easter guest rode the crap out of the bike yesterday and today; no problems to report.
Fuel consumption appears to be pretty decent; less than 1/3 (of 1/2 gallon) tank burnt so far. No idea on on distance traveled .. . .

In 2005 the local wal mart had these on clearance-

A friend bought one and we installed the 80cc engine on it. Worked out pretty well. The small diameter tire limited the top speed, but gave it good torque.
