Got sick and tired of paying to pump water for the garden.
We found a 9' dish at the dump last week and finally got around to installing it in the garden. My mom was nice enough to come over and help set it up. The drain is from an old sink. It will collect 40 gallons of water if we get one inch of rain. The reservoir is 275 gallons. Feels good.

What's crazy is some parts of the southwest have illegalized rainwater capture. Even from your own roof!

That's what you get, inviting all these folks to come out to your sere landscape and suck the aquifers dry.

Very nice idea...recycling the old antenna AND saving water/electricity.

Just one question ? I see some buildings (barn/house) in the background that don't have gutters installed ? Why not ? The potential of collecting water from those would be exponentially bigger..

Smart to use a sink drain, we used to use them for all kinds of stuff, cockpit drains on sailboats for one. They are handy because you can put the plug in for washing the dish. They don't rust because they are stainless steel. Well done.

Nice job, I can see this being of use for filling a water storage tank that is at the top of a hill, you will be surprised tho how fast 250 gallons is gone! due to some rack failure I'm down to 300 gallons and my little garden soaked it right up and I'm only 20 miles from you altho I think my soil has a bit more sand in it then you do in Colfax.
Use a soaker hose for watering if you want to water a large area, it's a nice slow drip and works well with the gravity feed.

I was not sure gravity feed would work with a soaker hose. I will only have 2-5 feet of head. It was supposed to rain this weekend but it is looking to be mostly sunny..... I want to see it working!

They will be getting pvc gutters as soon as I get this finished up. I have some 3" DWV that I will cut in half and install. I have been meaning to install gutters for some time.
