...most of the "older" full wheel covers had 'springy-clips' all around the cover circumference which "caught/grapped" not the rim lip (where weights commonly attach), but rather the flat surface below the rim lip.

15" Olds

I have two of these 15" I got from a client.I'd recommend them to anyone. They stay put until removed on purpose and are completely "silent" unlike my bang-on Moonies which sound like a plague of locusts .------------ My thoughts on the expensive 16" MOONs,are that they're probably a low sales volume item for now and will command a niche price until volume sales kick in if at all.

That's what I was thinking.

aerohead,

Of all the covers posted so far, and the 100's I looked at on the 'net, I like
the 15 in. Olds the best. Special thanks to cfg83 for the post.

As a point of interest, do the spring metal tabs that hold the cover on also
have a large diameter wire tensioning ring?

As to the price of the MOON 16 in. racing discs, at ~$50 each, they come in
a lot cheaper than many of the OEM near-aero wheel covers that I have
found. A few typically start at $40, but most are up in the $70-$80 range.
And most times you're looking at single covers, and "used but good" quality
at that. I suspect it is because you are in a market with the classic and
heritage restoration crowd who seem to have buckets o' bucks to spend on
perfectly restoring their first car from their halcyon high school days.
"The older I get, the better I was." Anon

Reviewing this thread makes me feel a little foolish. The OEM near-aero idea
seemed like a way to get an inexpensive, quick, and simple maybe-aero
mod. Things sure have worked out a whole lot differently than I expected.
