In other news: I crashed my bike
This weekend is ECCC Championships at Dartmouth, something I had looked forward to all season...On wednesday I was going over the crit course and coming out of a turn got out of the saddle to practice sprinting down the straight portion. After about two seconds I hear a clunk, feel no pedal resistance, and feel myself flying over the bars.
I smashed my head first, then my elbow, and some other bits. No broken elbow, but the concussion is still pretty bad feeling. The bike is a little messed up, but I have little desire to actually fix it. I went for a ride two and after about 5 minutes I decided to drop out of the races for the weekend (ttt, crit, road).
That's my story! The bell sweep r is a good helmet, by the way.

Dude that bites. Glad you had your brain bucket on. Was it your chain that snapped? Sorry to hear the season ended that way. Don't know how much road rash you have but here's some good info.
Speedy recovery

Chain jumped the cogs, I think. My road rash is medium bad, I was in the hospital for a while (x-rays for the elbow), but yeah, I should be good.

I know your pain. Take it easy and don't underestimate the damage that has been done.

Haha, if only I felt that way, thanks,
I was on my bike today for < 2 miles and I had serious anxiety over it.

I was crossing a roadway when my chain snagged and the wheel suddenly lurked sideways into the frame.
I was throw from the bike and had to carry the thing home with me ( a very long walk )
Bikes can be fun sometimes can't they

Yep, I never thought I'd be so glad I spent so much on a helmet (and so pissed that it was only three weeks old).

Not sprinting out of the saddle so much anymore?
I did nearly the same thing about two years ago. I actually hit a pothole or something whilst out of the saddle.
No matter how it happens it always hurts.
Wear yer helmets folks!
