I'm hoping for 500 amp, if they blow, I will just put in 10 or 12 of the 130 amp. I'm using 2 drivers (IXDD414PI) 14 amp non-inverting

If you are using 280V fets, you must be wanting to use a system with higher voltage then 144v??

I've got two more weeks and all of my projects at home are wrapped up for a solid 3 months. I can finally focus on the EV project and start building my controller.

I just picked up a tablet PC to run RTD Explorer on in my car.
I have it wired up to take power from the car's 12V system.
Besides tweaking the controller and logging data, I also have 27GB of hard disc space for music, sound effects, and EV Build Videos.

Ben, that is so dang awesome. You are the man!!!!! There are a LOT of possibilities with that thing! You are taking that car to the next level! All the fancy $50,000 Volts and who knows have them, and your car is going to put them to shame!

Oh, I've been working on a BMS for Thundersky batteries. I'm done with the software on the ATTinys (well, ready to start testing), and I'm getting close-ish on the dsPIC30F4011. It should cost a few hundred dollars to monitor 48 batteries. BMS systems can cost thousands easily, so it will cut a couple thousand off the price of anyone trying to affordably (hahahaha) convert their car to Lithium. It should be noise tolerant, since CAN will be used in the transmission process. I haven't started initializing the CAN module yet. It's a whopper. I did the UART for debugging purposes, and the Change state notification module, and the timer1. I've been working on the ISR for the Change State. There are 8 ports that are being watched by the dsPIC. Each of those ports are used to receive morse code about the voltage levels of the 8 batteries it's monitoring. The ATTinys read the voltage of the battery they are monitoring, and the 0's and 1's of the battery voltage get sent by morse code to the dsPIC. Isn't that a sneaky idea!? Thanks Fran! There are no noise issues, as they are right next to their dsPIC, and have a direct line to their "dad" if you will.

Hello Everyone,

I have just released a latest version of RTD Explorer. This version has a working bootloader as well as a bunch of new features. You can change the color of each line in the graph line in the settings page under File. There is also a new command list under Help. Also, when you start typing in the command box, it will bring up an auto complete box to sift through the different commands.

The updater in this version is malfunctioning badly, but should be fixed in the next version.

Let me know what you think and I would love to hear any ideas for new features you can come up with.

Hello Everybody!!

I have a chance to get some very high end IGBT modules for a very low price. Right now im trying to get a case of 600A 400A Powerex modules. These are a high end module that is close to $300 each from a supplier. I am looking for people to fill space for 4 or 5 more modules. O, and the price. $20 each!!!!! You should be able to put 2 of these modules together and create a 500A controller very easily. All you need to do is run 3 bus bars down connecting the same terminals together and add a capacitor bank to the B+ and B- terminals. These are 2 pack IGBT's so you don't need a separate one for a diode, you can just tie the gate of the second half low and use its diode. You could push 600 through 2 modules if you keep them both the same temp. You will need to mount them close together on a thick piece of aluminum.
